Todd: Thank you, Rob.
Rob: Let’s talk about subways or mass transit systems. What are some of the best ones in the world?
Todd: Well, one of them is London’s system. It’s often called The Tube.
Rob: What’s special about it?
Todd: It’s the world’s oldest. It began operation in 1863.
Rob: What are some others?
Todd: The system in New York City is one of the world’s biggest. It has 468 stations!
Conversation B
Rob: I’ve heard about the Tokyo Metro. It can be very crowded!
Todd: It is. More than 6.2 million passengers ride it every day.
Each station in Tokyo has people pushers.
Rob: Really! They push people onto the train?
Todd: Yes, they do! They do it so the train doors can close.
Rob: Tell us about another interesting system.
Todd: Well, the system in Saint Petersburg, Russia, is the deepest in the world. One station is 105 meters underground.
