The Star Wars movies have introduced many popular characters, but Han Solo is without a doubt one of the most beloved. The background story of this charming smuggler has finally made it to the big screen, and fans have high hopes for the film.
Young Solo is played by Alden Ehrenreich, who has big shoes to fill. Can his Solo equal the Solo that Harrison Ford has engrained in fans’ minds? Ehrenreich is not the only one under pressure to make the latest Star Wars movie a winner. Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller were about three-quarters of the way through filming the picture when they parted ways with Lucasfilm over “creative differences.” Award-winning director Ron Howard then took over and subsequently shot 80 percent of the film over in just four months. He had to meet a May 25 release date that the studio refused to budge on! But Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm, was probably under the most pressure. As brand manager of Star Wars, she certainly has an image to maintain.
So will the film live up to audiences’ high expectations? Fans, you decide! |
