It’s no wonder that Gal Gadot will soon appear on screens as the world’s most iconic female superhero because she’s nearly one in real life.
Model
Some actors pursue their careers as a life goal or a dream to fulfill, but Gal Gadot never imagined that she would be a star. A sporty kid from a small town in Israel, she didn’t plan for an extraordinary vocation until she competed in the Miss Israel contest at 18. After winning this contest, she launched a modeling career, which included her representation of Israel in the 2004 Miss Universe competition.
Soldier
The same year she participated in the beauty pageants, Gadot was drafted into the Israeli Defense Force (IDF), as all dwellers of the nation are. “I wish no country had the need for an army,” says Gadot. “But in Israel serving is part of being an Israeli. ... You give your freedom away. You learn discipline and respect.” While in the military, Gadot served as a gym trainer and received weapons and combat training, skills that would serve her well in years to come.
