「空中英語教室」、「天韻合唱團」與「全民大劇團」合作,製作《The Journey of Love因愛啟程》,以音樂劇的方式呈現96歲美籍宣教士彭蒙惠老師的生命歷程,經歷2022年1月份台北場、10月台南場、11月花蓮場、2023年4月高雄場、2023年4月台中場、2023年4月台北場,14場音樂劇演出座無虛席,各界好評不斷。96歲的彭老師每場必現身舞台謝幕,並中氣十足地吹奏小號感謝現場嘉賓。
彭老師謙卑的表示:「這齣音樂劇不是為了我,希望藉著音樂劇,有更多的朋友願意接受新生命的禮物。耶穌是我們一生的朋友,”A Friend For Life”。邀請大家把自己的名字寫在生命冊上,一起來領天國的護照,成為天國的子民。」救世傳播協會會長、天韻合唱團團長暨《因愛啟程》監製謝光哲表示,去年適逢空中英語教室60周年、今年是天韻60周年,這都是彭老師所創辦的。我們感謝許多愛台灣的宣教士像馬偕、馬雅各、彭老師,讓我們學習他們的精神,一起把愛傳出去。」
行政院秘書長李孟諺、前內政部部長徐國勇到場全程觀賞,非常感動彭老師創新革新及不放棄的精神。李孟諺表示,一聽到「野地的花」,就想起大學時常唱天韻的歌。雲品國際董事長盛治仁在臉書PO文表示,下午去國父紀念館觀賞了因愛啟程的音樂劇,深受感動。我在國高中階段就是忠實聽眾。今天彭老師也出席了謝幕,還是思慮清晰、演說流暢,真是主恩滿溢。知名媒體人王偉忠 : 「看完舞台劇,彭蒙惠現身,全場起立鼓掌向她致敬,氣氛很感人,這樣一位愛台灣的雙語先驅人物,Bravo!」
看過四次因愛啟程的台北復興堂柳子駿牧師表示,「無法言喻的感動,還是哭了!」每次看都感受到宣教士的偉大,看到彭老師跟父母分開的時候,都會掉眼淚,因為那真的是很不容易的事。柳子駿:「我覺得每個人一生一定要看一次。於是帶著全教會一起包場,在國父紀念館看因愛啟程。復興堂,一直都不能忘記,要不是有這些宣教士來到台灣奉獻自己,我們如今才能聽見福音,我們也立志成為為耶穌而活的教會,成為宣教的教會!
Studio Classroom, Heavenly Melody, and All U People Theatre’s joint production, The Journey of Love musical telling the life story of Dr. Doris Brougham, concluded it’s around the island tour in Taipei on April 16. The musical had a total of 14 performances and packed out venues in Taiwan’s major cities including Taipei, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Taichung, and Hualien. The finale performance was attended by the Executive Yuan’s Secretary General Li Meng-Yan and former Minister of the Interior Hsu Kuo-yung.
Dr. Doris Brougham concluded each performance by playing a trumpet solo and sharing about God’s love with the audience. Seeing her appear on stage playing her trumpet moved many in the audience to tears and standing ovations. Brougham shared: “My greatest hope is that through this musical, more people will receive the greatest gift, the gift of eternal life, and we can be friends in eternity.”
Overseas Radio & Television, Inc. Executive Director and Executive Producer of the musical, Daniel Hsieh, shared: “Last year was Studio Classroom’s 60th anniversary, and this year is Heavenly Melody’s 60th anniversary. Both were founded by Dr. Doris Brougham. Taiwan has been blessed by many missionaries such as Dr. Doris Brougham, Dr. Leslie MacKay, and Dr. James Laidlaw Maxwell. May we follow their example of selfless service and love to make Taiwan and the world a better place.”
