How can I write to my favorite English teacher?
Why can't the teachers write to me more often?
We try to answer each letter sent to us. We wish we could get to know each one of you! But we can not be pen pals with our readers. If you would like a foreign pen pal, you can write an English letter to Dan Wooding. Please include some information about yourself with your name, address, e-mail address, and your interests. His e-mail address is danjuma1@aol.com . Dan will then link you with a pen pal to write to.
How can I send a suggestion or comment?
Why don't you have the Chinese translation on the same page as the English lesson?
While that might be more convenient for students, it is not the best way to learn a language. To learn English well, you need to learn to think in English. If you are always comparing the two languages, you will always be translating between the two in your mind. In addition, some English words/phrases do not have exact translations in Chinese, so you don't get an accurate idea of the meaning of words and phrases.
Why don't you have more Chinese on the radio and TV programs?
Learning English in English is much better than learning English in Chinese. Although it may be more difficult, in the long run students will learn faster and better. We try to use just enough Chinese to be sure students understand, but we want to challenge them to learn English in English.
I have a business question for the Studio Classroom magazine staff. Who should I talk to?
I'd like to try Call Your Teacher. What can I talk about?
You can talk about anything. It's nice to start with some easy questions. You can ask questions like, "Where are you from?" "How long have you been in Taiwan?" "How many brothers and sisters do you have?" "What do you like best about living in Taiwan?" or "What do you like to do in your free time?" You can also share that information about yourself with the teacher. It's also good to talk about the lesson you have been studying in your magazine that week. Also, "Call Your Teacher" gives you the chance to give us your comments and suggestions about our magazines. We'd love to hear what you think! Please share your opinions with us.
